Haryana to set up Madrasa Education Board
Ambala, July 30 (UNI) The Haryana Government is contemplating to set up a Madrasa Education Board in the State.
The purpose of setting up the Board was to provide, in addition to the religious teachings, the technical and vocational education to the students, Haryana Governor Dr A R Kidwai said on the third annual celebrations of the Haryana Wakf Board, here yesterday.
He also urged the convenors of the Madrasas to make efforts to enable the students get technical and vocational education so as to get employment.
The Governor said the Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan aimed educating all children between the age of 6 and 14 years, had a provision for imparting education to children being taught in Madrasas.
He said 75 per cent of the financial aid being given to these Madrasas was provided by the Centre and the remaining 25 per cent by the State Government. He said that provisions had been made by the National Open School for providing education at the door-step to the children who were unable to attend schools.
Dr Kidwai urged the people of the Muslim community to educate their children by providing them quality education for which provisions had been made under various schemes.
He called upon the officials of the Haryana Wakf Board to set up information centres in the areas dominated by the Muslim community for spreading information about the schemes being run by the government.
A survey was being conducted by Divisional Commissioners to gather details of the properties of the Wakf Board.
