Extremists, terrorists getting support from abroad: Congress
Hyderabad, July 30 (UNI) All India Congress Committee (AICC) member and senior Congress leader Ratnakar Pande today alleged that extremists and terrorists in the country were getting assistance from foreign countries.
Talking to mediapersons here, he lauded the decision of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to postpone the peace process with Pakistan.
Dr Pande said negotiations and terrorism cannot go together.
''Indian Government has to seriously talk to Pakistan, which is the mother land of terrorism'', he alleged.
He alleged that unless Pakistan abolishes its terrorist training centres, negotiations for peace can be termed as only ''table-talking process. Unless a firm stand to curb terrorism is taken, it cannot be controlled,'' he added.
Dr Pande said naxal problem is a challenge to any Government. It can be solved only by providing equal opportunities for upliftment of all sections of the society, he added.
''Criminals are provoking naxals to take up arms and fight against the Government. There is a nexus between criminals and naxals. These groups are also funded from countries like Nepal. But in the bargain innocent people were used and killed in the tussle'', he alleged.
Dr Pande demanded that the Government take steps to eradicate naxalism, ulfa or insurgency, forever. The Government should have the political will to curb this menace, he added.
