Credit not to be denied to productive sector: Chidambaram

Mysore, July 30 (UNI) Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram today asserted that credit will not be denied to the productive sector at any cost.

He was responding to newspersons' queries on the sidelines of the silver jubilee celebrations of Infosys here on whether the recent increase in interest rate would hamper the credit offtake.

To another question, Mr Chidambaram said both imports and exports were showing healthy signs of increase. He was not aware of any report that there was decline in non-oil imports into the country, which was a sign of slowing down of economic growth.

When his attention was drawn to other economic issues, he declined to answer, stating that Parliament was in session.
