Cong wants Cauvery tribunal scrapped if delay persisted
Pondicherry, July 30 (UNI) AICC General Secretary V Narayansami today demanded scrapping of the Cauvery Water Tribunal if it did not present the report to the government in a month.
Addressing a press conference here, Mr Narayansamy said though the tribunal was constituted about 16 years ago, it was yet to submit the final report.
The delay had turned ''advantageous'' to the Karnataka Government and ''fatal'' to Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Pondicherry, he claimed. The Rajya Sabha chairman also directed tabling of the report in the House in a month's time, he said.
Mr Narayanasami said soon Pondicherry will be known as Puducherry after the bill is passed in both Houses of Parliament.
