'BJP to launch agitation again on price hike'
Hyderabad, July 30: Former President of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rajya Sabha Member Venkaiah Naidu today announced that his party would once again launch an agitation after the current Parliament session in protest against the price hike of essential commodities and UPA Government's anti-people policies.
Talking to newspersons here, Mr Naidu alleged that the UPA Government at the Centre was totally insensitive towards the suffering of people in the country.
''Food Corporation of India(FCI) was not pressed into action to procure food grains. The Centre failed to provide enough stock in market. It was a total mismanagement which forced the Centre to import food grains, pulses, oil seeds and other commodities by reducing duty'', he alleged.
Mr Naidu also alleged that food shortage was practically a creation of the UPA Government.
''To cover up its failure, the UPA Government is misleading the country with wrong statements on price rise. Union Finance Minister Chidambaram failed to give proper explanation in Parliament on the questions raised by the Opposition regarding the price rise. The government is manipulating wholesale price index to show that inflation has been brought down in the country'', he alleged.
