Banks assured full proof security in Kupwara

Srinagar, July 30 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police has assured full security to all bank branches functioning in Kupwara, once a hub of militants in north Kashmir.

An official spokesman said that in order to review the over all security scenario especially for all bank branches functioning in the frontier district a meeting was held under the chairmanship of district police chief.

The meeting was also attended by the district lead Bank Officer and other bank representatives.

A number of banks were looted in the Kashmir valley during the past 16 years of militancy.

It was proposed that State Bank of India functioning in Handwara be provided with currency chest facility and steps would be taken for opening and creating more cash currency chests at Kupwara so that locals could benefit.

The police chief assured the bank authorities that the security would be provided to other banks as per the norms, He assured that security would be provided to the mobile cash van if J&K Bank arranges one for Kupwara district for providing ATM facilities to the general masses.

It was pointed out that a Joint Security Committee has been constituted headed by District Development Commissioner Kupwara while other six active members were included in the committee for the purpose.
