'Bailing out the team at crucial time is important for me':Dhoni
Bangalore, July 30 (UNI) India Cricket team swashbuckler Mahendra Singh Dhoni said that bailing out the team at a crucial time is important for me and it is really a challenging.
In a chat with newsmen who met him after launching Reebok's latest collection at RbK showroom here last evening, he said that my main aim was to help the team to come out of the crisis. "I believe in thinking in what reality is, practical thinking is what is needed and adopt to reality and go for performing whether behind the wicket or with bat." " I cannot expect to score 100 when I am batting at Number Seven. The role would be completely different. Going there, playing, facing 25 balls and scoring 30-35 runs is my target. I believe in realistic thinking, realistic in batting and bailing out the team is my main aim", he added.
For 25 year old the cricket reality can really work if it was planned stage by stage and executed well. " It will work if you plan meticulously and execute your ideas properly." When asked how he is managing to be expert both behind the wicket and in bat, he said that "working hard, thinking it is part and parcel of the game. You hardly get bowlers of caliber of Harbhajan Singh in domestic cricket and in international matches if you are good behind the wicket bowlers will get boost and it is really challenge for me." Expressing satisfaction over his past performance he said that "so far it is good. I faced different challenge, different concept, situation. You cannot be successful through series, there will always be critics when you are not performing but I believe in thinking what reality is and perform to the best of my ability." Replying to a question about forthcoming tri-series in Sri Lanka in which South Africa is the third team, Dhoni said that it is really a challenging series as Sri Lanka is also performing well in the ODIs. Like in West Indies, the pitch in Sri Lanka may also be slow but it should not come in the way of putting up best performance in the series.
For Jharkhand lad batting position does not count. "Batting position is not a worry for me. I have batted from Number one to eight. It is a new challenge for betting at different slot. You have to read the situation and adopt yourself. You have to plan whether it is the 30th Over or 40th Over you have to adopt yourself and perform." About experiences in three-day Fitness camp held at an army atmosphere, about 65 km from the City, he said it was completely different camp and learnt more during the stay.
Dhoni, who made Test debut in 2005 against Sri Lanka series at Chennai, has scored 602 runs with his highest being 148 against Pakistan. In ODI he made debut against Bangladesh in 2004 and has amassed 1467 runs and his carrier highest was a sparkling unbeaten 183 against Sri Lanka at Jaipur in 2005.
