Atwal slumps to tied 48th after worst card of week
Wisconsin, July 30 (UNI) Things went horribly wrong for Arjun Atwal in the last five holes of a horrendous front nine and the Orlando-based Indian played his worst round of the week, three-over 73, to slump to tied 48th after the pentultimate round in the 4,800,000 dollar Milwaukee open here.
After a scintillating opening round of 64, Atwal returned a card of 69 in the second round but his third proved worst of them all and he slid to tied 48th with a three-day total of four-under 206.
Atwal parred the first three holes, birdied the next and the only other time he celebrated was after picking up a shot on the 10th.
He dropped his first bogey on the fifth hole and one par shot away awaited a bogey hat-trick which derailed Atwal's campaign.
Though he managed to keep things under control in the other nine, he could not avert the bogey on the 17th hole and ended the day with his hopes of a top-five finish up in the smoke.
At the top of the table, American Corey Pavin clung on to his lead with a round of two-under 68 that took his three-day tally to 17-under 193, followed two shots behind by compatriot Jerry Kelly who fired a six-under 64 in the penultimate round.
