Ashok Leyland registers 33.2 growth in first quarter

Chennai, July 30 (UNI) Ashok Leyland, the flagship company of the Hinduja Group, has registered a 33.2 per cent growth in sales to Rs 16,413.77 million in the first quarter of the current fiscal.

The sales stood at Rs 12,319.12 million in the first quarter of 2005-06, a company release said today.

Riding the high market demand, vehicle sales grew 27.9 per cent to 17,040 compared to 13,320 during the corresponding period last year.

At Rs 1,186.56 million (Rs 890.43 million), gross operating margin was up by 33.3 per cent, withstanding the intense pressure from material cost increases.

The Net profit for the quarter stood at Rs 691.80 million as against Rs 643.54 million in Q1 last fiscal.
