4 injured, war stores recovered

Srinagar, July 30: Four persons, including a security force jawan were injured while war-like stores were recovered in Jammu and Kashmir overnight, official spokesman said.

He said militants hurled a hand grenade towards security forces at Kalamchakla in the frontier district of Kupwara last night.

However, it missed the intended target and exploded on the roadside causing injuries to three persons. The injured were admitted to a hospital.

A soldier was injured when militants attacked a security force patrol party at Aloosa Bandipora in Baramulla district last night.

Militants later managed to escape under the cover of darkness, he said.

Security forces recovered one AK rifle, four magzines and one wireless set from Saria forest in Rajouri district last night. No one was arrested.

A defence ministry spokesman said 126 Territorial Army (TA) battalion launched a search operation in village Shutiyan near Gagangir, Sonamarg, about 85 from here on the strategically important 434-km-long Srinagar-Leh national highway last evening.

There was a specific information that militants have for the first time stored arms and ammunitions in the area, he said adding security forces, after a long search, finally smashed the hideout.
