1 dead as bike goes out of control

Tiruchirapalli, July 30: A 27-year-old man was killed on the spot and his friend seriously injured when a motorcycle on which they were riding went out of control and fell on the banks of river Cauvery near here last night.

Police said the deceased, Chokkalingam and his friend Nandakumar (30), were working as sales representatives in two different mobile phone campanies. They went to Sarkarpalayam last night where they consumed alcoholic drinks.

They were returning home in an inebriated condition, when the mishap occurred.

The passersby noticed the mishap and informed the police. A police team rushed to the spot and recovered the body of Chokkalingam and admitted Nandakumar to a private hospital, where his condition was stated to be critical.
