Veteran Janata Dal leader passes away

Tiruchirapalli, July 29: Former MLA and veteran Janata Dal (United) leader Y Venkatesa Dikshidar died here today following prolonged illness.

He was 94. He is survived by one son and two daughters.

Mr Dikshidar was a member of Legislative Council (MLC) and Chairman of Srirangam Municipality. He was also associated with many educational institutions as an office-bearer. For generations, he belonged to the temple Priest Community attached to Sri Jambukeswarar-Akhilandeswari temple at Tiruvanaikovil.

A large number of people from all walks of life paid homage to the departed leader.
