Two NLFT militants shot dead in Tripura

Agartala, Jul 29 (UNI) Two hardcore National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT-BM) militants was killed in an encounter with Tripura Police at Lalitcharan para under Kanchanpur Police Station in Tripura's North district today.

Police here said the encounter took place at 6 AM when a Police party launched a massive anti-insurgency operation to flush out militants.

When the police party reached remote Lalitchara Para, a group of militants started indiscriminate firing on the security forces, who, immediately retaliated, killing two NLFT rebels on the spot.

The other members of the group, however, managed to escape taking shelter in the dense forest.

Police had launched massive search operation in the area to nab the fleeing members of the group.
