2 bodies of Jadavpur Univ students found
Purulia, Jul 29: Mystery intensified after recovery of two bodies of Jadavpur University students- Suvankar Saha and Swati Das- and missing of a third member, a girl, of a five-member trekking team in Bagmundi hills here this morning.
Police Superintendent Ahoke Kumar Prasad told UNI that the body of Suvankar (21) was retrieved from the bank of a river and Swati's body was traced at a canal Majherjhara a few hours later. He said body had no clothings.
Arundhati Saha, who was also missing along with Swati, was still missing and a massive hunt was launched across Purulia district and neighbouring Jharkhand.
Two other members- Bappaditya Chatterjee and Koushik Saha, who had been rescued last night, were detained by the police for interrogation.
Police said their version, during interrogation, about the mishap was varrying, that led the police to smell some fishy affair in the mishap.
Mr Prasad said the body of Suvankar was found at the bank of Shuva river in Bagmundi with injury marks on the neck.
Initially rumours were that some members of the team slipped down to the river while crossing a stream. Another version was they fell after a rope on which they were crossing snapped.
The students of Bachelor of Pharmaceutical had boarded the train from Howrah on Wednesday and starterd trekking from Thursday in the Bagmundi hills.
Mr Prasad said many teams had fanned out to trace the missing girls.
He said initially all thought that Moaists were behind this incident but now Bappaditya and Koushik claimed they fell into the river.
