Theft in Integrated Defence Services headquarters
New Delhi, July 29 (UNI) Thirteen computer printer ink cartridges worth Rs 17,000 were stolen from a storeroom of the tightly- guarded Integrated Defence Services (IDS) headquarters at Kashmir House here, the Defence Ministry said today.
The theft, from Room No 49 (South Hutments) of the IDS headquarters, was noticed last Monday. An FIR was registered at the Chanakyapuri police station the next day.
A Court of Inquiry (CoI) has been ordered into the ''serious'' incident, a Defence Ministry statement said.
Refuting reports in a section of the media, the Ministry said no hard drive, disc or printer had been stolen from the room, which is a storeroom for stationery.
The 13 computer printer ink cartridges were found missing from the storekeeper's table drawer when the room was opened after three days on Monday. The room was sealed and under lock from Friday to Monday.
Police said they had lifted fingerprints and were questioning all concerned. Preliminary investigations suggested the hand of an ''insider'' behind the incident, a police official investigating the crime said.
