Ten injured in BSF scuffle
Basirhat, July 28 (UNI) At least ten people were injured, five of them seriously, in an alleged scuffle between BSF jawans and local people at Soladana market in North 24 Parganas this evening.
Tension mounted in the area with most villagers preferring to remain indoors while a strong police force was deployed to pacify the situation.
However, no one was arrested in this case so far, police informed.
The trouble started when two BSF jawans allegedly manhandled a woman and some local people objected the behaviour of jawans and reportedly assaulted the BSF personnel.
The villagers also took away the rifles which was recovered later, police said.
The troops then reportedly raided the market area to recover the rifles and allegedly assaulted the local people at random leaving at least 10 injured.
All the five people who were seriously injured were sent to the Subdivisional hospital.
