Singaporean Indian charged for murdering wife
Singapore, July 29 (UNI) A 51-year old Singaporean of Indian origin, Francis Silvaraj, was charged in a Singapore court for murdering his wife in their apartment at Bukit Batok housing estate on the Western part of Singapore, local media reported today.
Silvaraj, with both legs amputated due to diabetes, stabbed his wife Regina Thevasayam (45) several times on Thursday.
Family members awoke in the early morning on hearing screams and saw Ms Regina trying to wrest a kitchen knife away from her assailant before falling to the floor.
Ms Regina, who worked as a cleaner, had two stab wounds on the left side of her stomach and three on her left thigh. She died in a hospital 12 hours later.
The report said Ms Regina was the primary caretaker of the unemployed husband after legs were amputated three years ago.
Two of the couple's married daughters and a son lived with them in the apartment while another married daughter lived elsewhere, according to the report.
