Shiv rises to tied 37th, Randhawa tied 28th in Germany
Alveslohe, Germany, July 29 (UNI) Shiv Kapur carded a sizzling six-under 66 to jump to the tied 37th spot while Jyoti Randhawa continued with his consistent show for a three-under 69 to be at the tied 28th position after the second round of the 3.6 million euro Deutsche Bank Players Championship of Europe.
Shiv, who was lying at the 103rd spot after a poor level-par opening round score, fired seven birdies against a solitary bogey to accumulate a two-day total of six-under 138.
The Indian was off to a good start with a birdie on the third and gained two more shots on the fifth and sixth to be three-under at the halfway mark.
Shiv, who was the sole Indian at the last week's The Open Championship, bogeyed the 10th after making the turn but that was to be his first and the last mistake of the day as he slotted four birdies after that to make the upward movement on the leaderboard.
The dropped shot, however, cost him a chance to end the day alongside compatriot Randhawa at the tied 28th spot.
Meanwhile, Randhawa continued with his consistent show but could not prevent himself from slipping seven places from first round's tied 21st position.
The seasoned pro has a total of seven-under 137 after firing five birdies against two bogeys in the second round.
The Indian started well by gaining a shot on the first and continued by picking up three more on the sixth, eighth and ninth.
His backward journey also started well with a birdie on the 10th but two dropped shots on the 14th and 16th pulled him back as he slipped down.
At the top of the leaderboard, Swede Robert Karlsson went past overnight leader Lee Westwood (68) of England with a six-under 66 card in the second round. Karlsson has a two-day total of 14-under 130 to be the sole leader with a single shot lead over Scot Gary SCO Orr (64), Westwood and Ian Woosman (66) of Wales.
