Rice mill dercognised

Pondicherry, July 29(UNI)The Pondicherry administration has cancelled the contract of a private modern rice mill to pack and supply rice under the free rice scheme, following complaints of underweighing.

According to offical sources, Chief Minister N Rangasamy had announced ten kg free rice to all the ration card holders in the union territory every month and seven modern rice mills were given contract for the supply.

Meanwhile, there were complaints of underweighing, following which officals had conducted a sudden check in which it was found the complaint to be true in the case of this mill at Abishegampakkam.
