Rain-related diseases claim two more lives, toll rises to 80
Mumbai, July 29 (UNI) Monsoon-related diseases have claimed two more lives in the metropolis taking the total number of such deaths so far to 80.
Two patients died at the civic-run KEM Hospital during the past 24 hours. One of them died of leptospirosis while the other was suffering from a high fever, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials said.
During the last 24 hours, eight patients suffering from suspected leptospirosis, eight from dengue and 233 cases of fever were admitted to different civic hospitals.
Medical teams from the municipal medical colleges and public health department have been constituted to deal with the situation and adequate stocks of medicines and diagnostic kits have been made available, the officials said.
