PF Commission siezes bank accounts of 10 tea gardens, FIRs on 70
Siliguri, Jul 29 (UNI) The Provident Fund Commission has seized bank accounts of 10 tea gardens and lodged FIRs against 70 others for not depositing PF funds, which were taken from the employees and workers of two districts- Jalpaiguri and Coochbehar, of north Bengal.
The PFC officials told UNI here that despite several notices to the authorities of those defaulting tea gardens, they failed to respond and the department was forced to take legal action.
The officials disclosed that Jalpaiguri has about 40 tea gardens whose outstanding PF was at Rs 35 crore. The tea garden authorities took the amount of PF from workers and employees and failed to pay it to the commission.
They said Rahimpur, Deklapara and Rohimapur were having an outstanding of Rs 40 lakh, 40 lakhs and 25 lakh each respectively.
