Over 5.58 lakh unemployed youth in Manipur

Imphal, July 29 (UNI) The number of unemployed educated youth in Manipur was officially registered at 5,58,774 till June this year, according to government sources.

The number of job seekers registered in Imphal east alone was 77,694, in Imphal west the figure was 1,97,360, 81,740 in Bishnupur, Thoubal 50,810, Churachandpur 50,212, Ukhrul 21,728, Senapati 40,182, Chandel 17,724 and 16,120 in Tamenglong.

Sources said there was a large number of youth, who did not register and hence the exact numbers of educated unemployed youths could not be ascertained.

The state government has also stopped appointment of employees except for home, education, health sector resulting in rise unemployed youths.
