Officials seize 750 sacks of rice

Villuppuram (Tamil Nadu), July 29: The officials of Civil Supplies here today took into custody a lorry carrying 750 sacks of rice to blackmarkets in Kerala and Andhra Pradesh.

According to officials, the lorry coming from Thenamadavi was loaded with 750 rice sacks, sold by local PDS owners in and around the district.

They said the Rs 1.5 lakh valued rice was taken to Pondicherry to be cleaned and polished before selling to buyers in Kerala and Andhra Pradesh.

The driver S Anbumani(58) and cleaner Sundaran (43) of the lorry had been arrested.

The search was on for the owner of the lorry, they added.
