NCP to stage dharna against failure of NDA government: Anwar
Patna, July 29 (UNI) Lambasting the NDA government for not fulfiling its pre-poll promises, national General Secretary of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Tariq Anwar today announced that his party would stage dharna here on August 19 to protest the failure of the the Nitish Kumar government.
Addressing mediapersons here, Mr Anwar alleged that the Nitish Kumar government could not improve the law and order situation in the state even after eight months, while he had claimed to improve the same within three months after coming to power.
He said present dispensation failed to make congenial atmosphere for investment in the state and put it back on the developmental track.
'' There was no improvement on any front in the state after the NDA government came to power and people were feeling cheated by the lollypop slogans, '' he observed.
Mr Anwar said his party would launch district level mass awareness programmes after August 19 to propagate the policies of the party and expose non-performance of the state government among the common masses.
Taking a potshot on the achievements of the Nitish government in launching the largest ever recruitment drive of teachers in the state, Mr Anwar said that the teachers were appointed on contract basis, which was an act of 'injustice' against them.
He said the teachers should have been appointed on regular basis but the decision to recruit them on contractual basis would infuse a kind of resentment.
Mr Anwar announced that former MLA Aquil Haidar had been unanimously elected as president of the Bihar unit of the party.
Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar had already been elected as the national president of the party while the process to elect the other important office bearers of the party would be held at Dehradun on September 16-17 during convention this year.
