MP chalks out cultural calendar
Bhopal, July 29(UNI) The Culture department of Madhya Pradesh government has chalked out a cultural calendar for organising various events throughout the year.
Besides, cultural programmes have been decentralised resulting in organising Betwa festival at Vidisha, Narmada festival at Jabalpur, Malwa festival at Indore and heritage festival at Chhatarpur, Culture Minister Laxmikant Sharma said today.
''Giving exposure to our rich cultural heritage throughout the world was the aim object of our culture policy'', he said.
Denying charge that the BJP government was attempting to saffronise cultural sprectrum, Mr Sharma said cultural activities at the state's multi-arts complex Bharat Bhavan, which had become non-functional during the Congress regime, had been revived.
Noted poet Dr Ashok Bajpayee, who made valuable contribution as a bureaucrat in setting up Bharat Bhavan in 1982, has been selected for the prestigious 'Kabir Samman' instituted by the state government, he added.
