Modi inaugurates 3rd Asian Gymnastic Championship

Surat, July 29 (UNI) Third Asian Gymnastic championship was inaugurated today at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Indoor stadium here by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

In his inaugural address, Mr Modi said culture of sports is the need of the hour and invited all the participating countries to the event.

The inaugural function was attended by Surat Mayor Kanubhai Mawani, State Water Resources minister Narottam Patel, Futagi Hidenmori (president, Asian Gymnastics Union) and Sudhir Mittal (president, Gujarat Gymnastics Federation).

There was a marching ceremony by the 20 participating countries after the inauguration.

The competitions in various gymnastic items will begin tomorrow.
