Minor drowns in drain
Allahabad, July 29 (UNI) A two-year-old girl drowned in a roadside drain in Allahapura area here last night.
Following heavy rain last evening, Allahpura area of the city was submerged in six to seven feet deep water with the water entering into many houses. Raksha, daughter of Arjun Yadav, fell into the water and was swept away while she was being shifted to a safer place.
On the alarm raised by her mother, local residents searched and found her about one km away in a flooded drain. They took her to a local nursing home but the doctors declared her brought dead.
The local residents in protest jammed the road and pelted stones at administrative officers and policemen. The police used force to disperse them in which some people got minor injuries.
Allahapura a densely populated locality of the city, is situated in low lying area and whenever there is heavy rain, the area gets flooded.
