Maryland Univ and HAU to expand

Hisar, July 29 (UNI) Maryland University, USA today offered to expand the mandate of mutual cooperation with Haryana Agricultural University by including Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and forecasting in horticultural crops, among other areas.

Miller, director international training programme, addressing the concluding session at the end of five-day visit here said. He was happy over the agreement of mutual cooperation reached between both universities and would like it to be further expanded in near future.

HAU Vice-Chancellor Dr J C Katyal expressed hope that the agreement, which will be implemented from the month of August, would prove to be a boon for agriculture at large and also for multi-institutional capacity building.

The Vice-Chancellor also said the objective of the agreement would be expanded further by including basic areas like science research and modernisation of course curriculum, in a phased manner.

Earlier, led by varsity registrar, Dr R S Dalal, the visiting delegation was taken on a round of the university including the library, Indira Gandhi Auditorium and Farmers Service Centre where the visiting dignitaries planted tree saplings to mark the occasion.
