Low pressure area over Bay of Bengal to bring more rains
Hyderabad, July 29 (UNI) The low pressure area that lay over northwest Bay of Bengal off north Orissa-West Bengal coast, today brought copious rains to the drought-hit Andhra Pradesh.
Rain or thundershowers were likely at many places over north coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Hyderabad Meteorological Centre Director M Satyakumar told UNI.
Isolated heavy rains were likely over Telangana, he said, adding that ''this system is likely to move in a west-northwesterly direction and cause increase in rainfall activity in the state after 48 hours''.
Moderate to heavy rain or thundershowers were likely over many places in the districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari and West Godavari of Coastal Andhra Pradesh in the next 48 hours.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers were likley at a few places over Telangana, Rayalaseema and in the remaining districts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh. The State capital would experience one or two spells of rain or thundershowers.
Rain occurred at many places over Telangana and at a few places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, while, isolated rains occurred over Rayalaseema.
The chief amounts of rainfall recorded in cms were Adilabad, Chintapalli 3 each, Kaleswaram, Mudhol, Perur 2 each.
