Kishan Sabha demands inquiry into seed distribution in Jharkhand
Ranchi, Jul 29 (UNI) The Jharkhand Kisan Sabha today demanded an inquiry into the government's seed distribution to the farmers recently.
Kishan Sabha General Secretary K.D.Singh alegged that the seeds distributed to the farmers were 'unproductive' and 'had zero yeild'.
He also demanded compensation for the farmers, who had no yeild paricularly in Palamu and Chatra districts.
In a release, Mr Singh said action should be taken against the company, who supplied the seed.
Appealing to the farmers to avoid synthetic fertiliser and foreign insecticide, he said use of organic fertilizers should be practised for better farming.
Giving example of last year's yeild at Gumla district, Mr Singh said farmers using hybrid seed had low production in comparison to traditional seeds for farming.
Accusing Mossento, a multinational seed company, of circulating genetic seeds, Mr Singh said such seeds were against nature and would leave adverse impact on the fertility of land.
