Kar Govt to increase retirement age for med teaching staff

Bangalore, July 29 (UNI) Karnataka government is planning to hike the retirement age for medical teaching staff to 65 years along with attractive pay scales.

Medical Education Minister Dr Acharya told reporters here today that the issues would be placed before the next cabinet for its consideration. The proposal would be in tune with the Medical Council of India norms, he said.

He said the government also had plans to grant autonomy to Medical Colleges based in Mysore and the city for their smooth running.

The new medical colleges in Belgaum and Mandya would start functioning from September one, he said.

The government would get 100 each seats from these two colleges along with 75 more from two other private colleges based in city and Chitradurga, he said adding that the total seats would be 275.

The construction work was in progress in four colleges at Bidar, Shimoga, Hassan and Raichur, he said.
