Incessant rainfall continues to lash UP
Lucknow, July 29 (UNI) Monsoon continues to burst with all its fury in Uttar Pradesh with Ghagra in Ayodhya flowing 17 cm above the danger mark.
Central Water Commission (CWC) said all prominent rivers including Ganga, Yamuna, Ken, Gomti, Sharda, Ghagra, Rapti and Gandak were flowing above the red mark.
In the last 24 hrs, Varanasi, Allahabad, Kanpur, Agra and Jhansi divisions were lashed by incessant rainfall.
Shahjina recorded 5 cm rainfall, Hamirpur 5 cm, while 3 cm each in Mukhlispur and Fafamau, weatherman said.
Heavy downpour accompanied by squall is likely in Allahabad, Varanasi, Kanpur, Jhansi, Sultanpur and Lucknow divisions.
A report from Lakhimpur said hundreds of houses in Paliakala have been washed away following land erosion in Sharda.
Later, a report from Balrampur said several houses have been marooned due to land erosion in Pahari 'Nullah' Makharjhar.
Meanwhile, the toll in rainfall related incidents climbed to 121, after Raksha (2) drowned in a 'nullah' in Allahabad last evening.
