Front to counter Cong, Badal soon: Chandumajra

Jalandhar, July 29 (UNI) Shiromani Akali Dal(Longowal) president Prem Singh Chandumajra today reiterated that a common front of anti Congress and anti Akali Dal (Badal) parties might be formed by August 20 next.

''The efforts for the formation of the front were in progress and there was a general sense of consensus among certain parties over the issue,'' he told reporters here.

He said that formation of the front might be announced at a convention which would be organised by his party on the death anniversary of late Sant Harchand Singh Longowal on August 20 next.

The next assembly elections in Punjab would not be a cake walk for the ruling Congress or the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) in the presence of contestants of this proposed front, Mr Chandumajra, who was in the town for a meeting of the party functionaries here today, said.
