Financial assistance to Kashmiri migrants in Haryana
Chandigarh, July 29 (UNI) Haryana government has decided to give financial assistance of Rs 1,000 per month to each Kashmiri migrant family settled in the state.
Disclosing this here yesterday, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said this financial assistance has been introduced with effect from April one this year.
The decision was taken by the Chief Minister during a meeting to review the functioning of the Social Welfare department along with Social Welfare Minister Ms Kartar Devi and senior officers of the department here on thursday.
Meanwhile, an official spokesman said the state government has already decided to reserve one seat in each course for the Kashmiri migrants in all government, aided, private colleges, universities and polytechnics for the current academic session.
The last date for the receipt of applications for Kashmiri migrants in the current academic session has been extended to August 14.
It may be recalled that Haryana government had also decided to help the Kashmiri migrant families under various schemes and training programmes being implemented in private and government sectors.
A decision to this effect was taken in view of the plight of kashmiri migrant families which deserved sympathetic consideration and possible assistance for their rehabilitation.
