Employees demand insurance, compensation

Pondicherry, July 29 (UNI) Tension prevailed at Thiruvandarkoil near here as the employees of a private factory resorted to a dharna in front of the factory today.

According to police, a 22-year-old Ramesh of Athur in Salem district was killed in a mishap in the factory yesterday and over 300 employees of the total of 1000 in the factory resorted to the agitation, demanding insurance coverage to the employees of the factory and provision of adequate compensation for the victim's family.

Police pickets have been posted to maintain law and order.
