Dr Narendra Jadhav appointed UoP Vice-Chancellor
Mumbai, July 29 (UNI) Maharashtra Governor S M Krishna, in his capacity as the Chancellor of Universities in the State, today appointed Dr Narendra Jadhav as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Pune for a term of five years.
The appointment will come into effect from the date he assumes charge of the office of Vice-Chancellor, an official release here today said.
Dr Jadhav is presently with the Reserve Bank of India as Principal Economist and Chief Economist for the Department of Economic Analysis and Policy.
Born on May 28, 1953, Dr Jadhav is an internationally acclaimed authority on macro-economics with special interests in financial and monetory sector issues. Earlier, he had served as advisor to Executive Director of International Monetary Fund (IMF) and as secretary to the Central Board, Reserve Bank of India.
After obtaining his Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree with statistics as the principal subject, Dr Jadhav did his Masters of Arts (MA) in economics from University of Mumbai (1975) by securing first class with specialization in mathematical economics and econometrics.
He obtained his Doctorate in Philosophy (Ph.D) in economics from Indiana University (1986). For nearly three decades he has been associated with applied economic research and has been the head of economic research of RBI for over five years.
Dr Jadhav has guided two RBI officials pursuing research in economics for obatining an Ph.D from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Mumbai. He has 15 books and over 100 articles to his credit.
