Description of mole given to PM : Jaswant Singh
Mumbai, July 29 (UNI) Former External Affairs Minister Jaswant Singh, whose book 'A call to honour' is in the eye of a storm, today said he had sent the text of his book containing the description of the mole in the PMO during the P V Narasimha Rao regime to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh but there has been no response from him for the past 24 hours.
In a brief interaction with scribes on the occasion of a panel discussion on his book here, Mr Singh said, ''I am awaiting a reply from the PMO.'' Replying to a query about the release of three terrorists at Kandahar to save 166 passengers, Mr Singh said, ''It was the question of the lives of 166 passengers.'' Recalling the incident of Charar-e-Sharif, he said the then Central government also released a terrorist, Mast Gul, to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) that time. He said he was not interested in drawing a parallel because he was aware such conditions were very trying.
He alleged both the Indo-US governments have not been candid on the civil nuclear deal signed between the two countries.
The panel discussion on the book was initiated by Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan wherin she read excerpts from the book. This was followed by bureaucrat Dr Vijay Kelkar, Persis Billimoria, former Vice-Admiral Madanjeet Singh, former Rajyasabha Chairman Najma Heptulla, Jerry Rao who whole-heartedly praised Mr Singh for writing a book giving an in-depth analysis of diplomatic and other related development in a floral language.
The function was attended by industrialist Nusli Wadia, Mukesh Ambani and megastar Amitabh Bachchan.
