Cong, Samajwadi aiding SIMI with eye on UP polls: Murli Manohar

Jaipur, July 29 (UNI) Senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi today trained his guns on Congress and Samajwadi Party saying they are ignoring SIMI's anti-national activities with an eye on the forthcoming Uttar Pradesh elections.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr Joshi said UP chief minister Mulayam Singh wants the cases against the 150 people involved with SIMI and Kanpur riots withdrawn, which proves that Samajwadi Party was aiding terrorist groups only to win the elections.

He said UP Congress chief Salman Khursheed not only wants the ban on SIMI lifted but he is advocating on their behalf at the court absolutely free to keep their vote-bank intact.

He said the terrorist activities have increased in the North East with help of Pakistan, who are now demanding a sovereign, independent Bangla state.

Mr Joshi also said CPIM is openly aiding terrorist groups as Abdul Nasser Madhani, the main accused in the Coimbatore bomb blast was released on parole, which was passed unanimously by the Kerala Assembly.

The BJP leader said legendary Communist leader EMS Namboodiripad had even compared Madhani with Gandhiji saying they were both fighting for their respective principles.

He said the reaction of the different nations at the G8 meet proved that India will have to counter terrorism alone.
