Chadar laid at Ajmer Sharif on Sonia's behalf

Ajmer, July 29: A chadar was laid on the mazaar of Sufi sant Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti here on behalf of Congress president Sonia Gandhi today.

Union state Communication Minister Shakeel Ahmed, Congress Secretary General Mukul Wasnik, former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and state Congress chief B D Kalla and other Congress leaders laid the chadar on behalf of Ms Gandhi.

Khadim Gani Gurdeji helped them perform the ziyarat at the mazaar.

The leaders prayed for communal harmony, development and general well-being of the country. Dargah committee's Sadr Peerzada Sibli presented them with the offerings at the Dargah of Khwaja Saheb.

In her message Ms Sonia Gandhi said Sufism is a flower of the Islamic tree and Khwaja Saheb is the most fragrant flower of Sufism.

She said the basis of Sufism is complete trust and surrender in God which helps to inculcate inner peace, self-respect and unity among mankind.
