Bengal to woo foreign tourists in the state: Minister
Kolkata, Jul 29 (UNI) West Bengal, with an array of destinations from the Himalayas to Sundarbans, will woo foreign tourists for the growth of the tourism sector in the state, State Tourism Minister Manab Mukherjee said here today.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Travel and Tourism Fair (TTF) here, Mr Mukherjee said, '' With the rapid economic and industrial growth in the state, the government is trying to draw foreign and domestic tourists. '' Mr Mukherjee said the state has unique advantage of offering a huge number of destinations from hills, beaches and mangrove forests. The fair, supported by the Union Ministry of Tourism and state government, was attended by Indonesia, Thailand, UAE and Bangladesh among the foreign countries.
Over 200 participants from 21 states and six countries were participating in the fair.
The 49th edition of the three-day annual fair here is expected to attract 2000 travel trade visitors and over 30,000 general visitors.
