Atwal's run halted by weather in Milwaukee open
Wisconsin, July 29 (UNI) Arjun Atwal's fiery form continued and he remained in contention for his first top-five finish this season after moving to three-under in 11 holes before darkness suspended play in the second round of the 4,800,000 dollar Milwaukee open here.
Atwal -- playing his back nine first -- did not get off to the best of starts as he dropped a bogey on the 11th but quickly recovered to fire three birdies in the space of four holes.
The Orlando-based Indian fumbled again on the 17th but made up for the lapse by gaining a shot on the 18th before making the turn to play his front nine.
Atwal fired a birdie on the second before the play was called off.
It has been a welcome boost for Atwal, who has missed 13 cuts out of 21 this season. The Indian has enjoyed only one top-10 finish so far and has agonisingly missed the weekend rounds by a shot or two on many occasions.
However, he seems to have left the past disappointment behind him after an impressive opening round card of six-under 64.
Atwal, who finished tied 17th in the BC Open last week, was joined by leader Corey Pavin -- three-under after 11 holes -- in the list of players who were still to complete their second round.
