Archers for World Cup to be selected in National Prize Money Tourney
New Delhi, July 29 (UNI) Archers for the fourth World Cup to be held in September at Shanghai, China will be selected at the National Prize Money Tournament to be conducted in Kolkata from August 8 to 12.
The tournament will also be used to short list archers for the Doha Asian Games in December and Junior World Championship in Mexico, Archery Association of India (AAI) said in a release today.
Following the selection of the team, the archers will move to Sri Lanka for the SAF Games next month.
Meanwhile, AAI President Vijay Kumar Malhotra congratulated the Indian junior team which won three Silver and a Bronze medals at the recently concluded second Asian Grand Prix Archery Tournament at Kuala Lumpur.
''The much talked about lack of killer instinct in Indian players has been proved a farce and Indian players are on a winning spree at the international level,'' Mr Malhotra said his congratulatory message to the team.
The Indian women's team won the Bronze by beating China in the Recurve section and grabbed the Silver after getting over Hong Kong in the Compound section. The junior men's Compound team also won the Silver after losing the final to Iran.
Sixteen-year-old Renso Purty added to the tally by winning the silver in the individual Compound section on his birthday.
