TDP demands judicial inquiry into land auctions
Hyderabad, Jul 28: The opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) today demanded that the government order a judicial probe with a sitting judge into the recent land auctions conducted by Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (HUDA) and cancel the registration of lands, purchased in 'benami' names at Kokapet in the city.
TDP senior leader and former minister Vijaya Rama Rao, addressing a press conference here, alleged that the government officials and ruling Congress leaders had purchased the government lands, after HUDA auctioned it.
Only a probe would reveal the persons involved in the land purchase, he said.
Mr Rao said the TDP would launch an agiation if the government failed to cancel the 'benami' registration of lands.
