Security forces bust an international gang

Agartala, Jul 28 (UNI) Tripura police along with Assam Rifles busted a gang of international smugglers, involved in girl trafficking, supply of arms and fake notes, and apprehended two persons under Bishalgarh police station in West District yesterday.

Police here today said Assam Rifles and Bishalgarh police jointly conducted a raid on the residence of one Malina Begum, who seeing the security forces made good her escape.

But Police and Assam Rifles stumbled upon a large number of fake US dollars, Saudi Arabian and Indian currencies.

Both police and Assam Rifles had information that Malina Begum, the kingpin of the international gang, was involved in the supply of arms to various underground militant groups, besides women trafficking to Bangladesh from India and smuggling of foreign and Indian fake currencies since long.

She had nexus with different underground militant outfits, police said adding two persons were apprehended during the search operation.

A massive manhunt was on to nab the main accused.
