SAAP to organise "CM Cup-2006"
Hyderabad, July 28 (UNI) Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) would conduct 'Chief Minister's Cup-2006' competitions in 15 disciplines from September 28 to encourage rural sports culture in the State.
According to a release here, as a prelude to the event, a torch run named as 'SAAP Run' was proposed to be organised in 23 districts. The run would start at Srikakulam on August 12, covering all districts, which culminates at Lal Bahadur Stadium, here on September 28.
Reviewing the performances of SAAP, the Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy wanted proper training on international standards to be given to the sportspersons by utilising the services of best coaches.
He also directed to complete all the ongoing projects, as well as those he has assured so far in the various platforms in the first phase.
Dr Reddy was informed that SAAP proposed to conduct three International tournaments here, namely, First International Tennikoit Championship, AP Challenger Series Lawn Tennis Tournament and Fourth World Women's Boxing Championship in November 2006.
SAAP has conducted seven international tournaments and 21 national tournaments during 2005-06.
