Proposals sent to Centre for sewerage projects : Minister

Hyderabad, July 28 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Municipal Administration Minister K Ranga Rao today said the state government has sent proposals for Rs 538 crore to the Centre to take up sewerage works in urban local bodies under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).

Speaking to newspersons here, Mr Rao said Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had reviewed the progress of works taken up under the JNNURM and instructed the officials concerned to immediately complete the formalities and get the amount from the Centre to complete the drinking water and sewerage works.

Stating that the Centre had allocated a grant of Rs 130 crore last year and Rs 93 crore was approved of which Rs 49 crore was released during this year for development works in municipalities, he said the government would release Rs 50 crore to the municipalities under the 'Rajiv Nagara Bata' scheme as a second instalment of the special grants given to them last year to complete the works.
