President arrives in J

Srinagar/Leh, July 28: President A P J Abul Kalam arrived here this afternoon from Leh on a two-day visit to Kashmir valley and Ladakh region.

He was accompanied by Governor Lt Gen (Retd) S K Sinha and Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad.

The President was received at Srinagar Airport by Chairman of Legislative Council Abdul Rashid Dar, Speaker Tara Chand, Chief Justice of State the High Court Justice B A Khan, Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baig and other senior officials.

Earlier, on arriving at Leh Airport this morning, Dr Kalam was accorded a warm welcome and was received by Gen (Retd) S K Sinha and Mr Azad.

Immediately after his arrival, the President participated in the 2550th Buddha Jayanti celebrations at Maha Pudha International Meditation Centre at Choglamsar.

Dr Kalam also launched Ladakh model of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan at local degree college.

The Governor and Chief Minister were also present at these functions.
