Postal employees in AP to go on indefinite strike from August 3

Hyderabad, July 28(UNI)Postal employees in Andhra Pradesh would go on an indefinite strike from August 3, state secretary of the National Postal Employees Federation D A A N V Prasad said today.

Speaking to newspersons here, he said of the 2,534 post offices in the state, only 100 were computerized and 1,500 post offices were being run by a single employee and even the rest of the post offices had only half the required number of staff.

Though work load had increased, no additional facilities were provided to the employees, he said adding that the authorities were not showing any consideration towards the employees who work even on Sundays.

The employees were opposed to the increase of working time by two hours, he said adding that they worked for more than four hours after their usual office hours.
