OPGC oustees refuse compensation, demand job
Sambalpur, Jul 28 (UNI) Displaced families of Orissa Power Generation Corporation (OPGC) belonging to Banaharpali, Baragada and Telenpali in Jharsuguda district have refused to accept compensation money for the land taken over by the corporation over a decade back.
As many as 28 land oustee families displaced in 1991 during construction of the power station have been demanding jobs first and compensation later, OPGC sources here today said.
The Land Acquisition Officer(LAO) of Jharsuguda recently went to pay Rs.1.22 crore to the land oustees in presence of the OPGC officials but they refused to take payment and demanded jobs to eligible family members as per their educational qualification, the officials said.
