One militant killed in Kashmir

Srinagar, July 28 (UNI) Security forces killed a militant in an encounter in north Kashmir today, a defence ministry spokesman said.

He said troops of 19 Rashtriya Rifles(RR) launched a search operation at Putshahi Lolab in the frontier district of Kupwara early this morning after receiving information about the presence of militants there.

However, when the troops were sealing the area, militants attacked them. The fire was returned and in the fierce clash one militant was killed. One ak rifle and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militant.
